A lack of posts

Not as many blog posts lately, that is what happens I suppose when there is a baby in the house. Totally fine with me. I can't post pictures on here of Miss L since she is in the foster care system, but I took some sweet ones the past few days that I can post. It will give you a hint at what we've been up to. I have started a private blog for her and hopefully one day I'll be able to share it with you too.

Merry Christmas- Happy Holidays

What a busy break it has been! I'm adjusting to my new added role as foster mommy and loving every minute of it. Christmas is just more fun with a kiddo in the house! We had a great time celebrating with friends and family. This break has flown by, but we are taking it day by day. Today Miss L and I had a girls' lunch at a friend's house. Yesterday I got a surprise when my bf from college and my dear friend from high school came to visit. Tomorrow it is off to visit my grandma in NKY. Enjoying it all, and so not ready for the break to end. Hope everyone is enjoying this festive time of year

Christmas Party

I finally have had the chance to just sit. And let me tell you sitting has never felt quite so good. We had our Christmas party this weekend on Saturday. It is much harder to prep for a party with a baby ho wants attention and a husband who is still finishing up the basement. Yes friends, the basement was finished a mere 2 hours before the party. Yikes!! To say I was not a happy wife is an understatement. I was exhausted. Regardless, we had a wonderful time and I'm so glad we pulled it together. The food was yummy, the drinks were tasty, and the company was delightful.
* I'll post pics of the basement soon!
After the party. Happy but so ready for bed.

Bob Marley meets grandma

If you have read for a bit you know my Grandma who I loved very dearly passed away in September. She used to wear this hat. I call it Bob Marley meets Grandma. It is tan crocheted with a bill and a pompom. I personally love it. I tried to get a pic of her wearing it but I didn't have any luck. Nonetheless I wore it tonight on my walk. What do you think? Stylish and it kept my head toasty.

My Birthday Surprise

Last Wednesday Anthony gave me the other part of my birthday present. My birthday is in October , so I've been waiting awhile. He surprised me with basketball tickets to the UK v. Notre Dame game that was in town. The game was at Louisville's old court (Freedom Hall). The floor is now painted to match the floor at Rupp Arena. Such a wonderful sight for a UK fan's eyes. We went with our friends John and Mandy. It was great company, a great game, and great seats. Such a nice treat and a wonderful surprise.

Snow Day

We had our first snow day today. It is the earliest I can remember having a snow day. And after today there are just four days till Christmas break. I promised myself I'd be productive if we had the day off. As I write this it is 12:51. My house is vacuumed, and 3 batches of cream candy have been made. This is the first Christmas since my grandma has passed away, so it is important that I continue on the tradition I used to do with her. We would make this together every year. It was such a special time. As tradition goes the first batch I made a couple weeks ago turned to butter and was a failure. Batches 2,3, and 4 turned out successful. Can't wait to share it with family and friends. I'd share the recipe, but it's a family secret:)

12 days of Christmas

My sweet friend Caitlin has hosted the 12 days of Christmas on her blog. I had planned on linking up daily but I haven't even made it one day. So, today is the last day and I am determined to link up. It is a bit of a hodge podge day. I'm using to catch up on things I have wanted to share. Believe me it is a bit random.

  • I added ribbon to the tree this year. I added the same ribbon to the stair railing and the fireplace. It really pulls it all together and adds a pop.
  • I bought a plug in from Bath and Body Works. It is pine scented. Love it! We had real trees when I was little and it brings back memories.
  • I wrap all my gifts in brown craft paper and then use red or lime green tulle for the bows. The paper is recycled and adds a simple touch.
  • I went to a girls night last night where we decorated sugar cookies. So much fun! They are so sweet. This must become a tradition.
  • This year I mixed and matched homemade and store bought gifts. I love the outcome. Saved some money, and can't wait to give them to people.

What's up

Stop the world I am actually finding the time to post. I don't think I've gone so long between posts. Whew... it has been a busy couple of weeks. Yesterday my mom and dad came in town to watch the little bit. Ten minutes before they were supposed to leave I asked them to pack some pjs. So, they ended up staying the night. I felt SO productive. There have been so many things on my to do list I just haven't quite figured out how to get to. Yesterday on the way home from work I stopped by the store. I also came home, and made a yummy dinner. This morning I got up and mom and I ran some much needed holiday errands. I even vacuumed, made breakfast, addressed Christmas cards, painted a dresser, and dusted. Anthony and dad were even able to get a lot accomplished with the basement. This is ten times more than I've managed in recent days. As for the little one she is doing good. This is a foster placement, but she is pretty stinkin cute and if it turned out to be a permanent placement we definitely wouldn't say no. We are learning so much every day and love having her around. Although I am grateful for the extra sleep I got last night with mom and dad in the house.

Short, sweet, and now we're fostering

To say we are crazy busy is an understatement! We finally got the call we've been waiting for! We now have a sweet bundle of joy. We are over the moon and adjusting to life as a family of 3 (plus a sweet beagle and cat).
